Services Performed: Walk-In Cooler Evaporator Replacement Sylmar, CA
Brief Explanation

Do We Service Walk-In Cooler Evaporators?

We helped a local customer out with their walk-in cooler evaporator replacement in the Sylmar, California area.

They were initially unsure if we'd be able to help them out with this service since this project seemed more on the commercial kitchen and restaurant side of things versus say an air conditioner or a furnace.

But as one of the best HVAC businesses around, we're more than able to happily help out our local customers with all their heating and air needs, and that includes cooling as well.

This customer's old unit was a Chandler cooler evaporator which was already on its last leg so to speak.

Once we conducted the replacement and made sure that everything was properly in order and in place, our customer was figuratively, and almost literally, blow away by the brand new updated power of their new dual-fan cooler evaporator unit.

Needless to say, they hopefully won't be left out in the cold in regards to having quality cooling and large-storage refrigeration for a long, long time.

Why's Proper AC Maintenance Important?

As the weather is changing, most people are starting to turn on their cooling system for the first time and are planning to use it daily.

It is important to have an HVAC professional inspect your system to help prevent them from breakdown and malfunctioning on those infamous California-hot days during the summer.

Are There Any Quick Tips Or Tricks?

Here are a few things which can be done to ensure your system’s performance is running at its optimal capacity and to help keep those energy costs down:

1. Change filter monthly. Replacing your filters help to prevent restricted air flow and valuable energy from going to waste. Not to mention that it will keep your air crisp, clean and healthy.

2. Keep the unit free from obstruction. Remove any objects that may interfere with or block your outdoor AC unit such as limbs, leaves, and dirt. These objects can interfere with the unit’s performance and can cause it to run harder and longer than it has to.

3. Make sure nothing is blocking your wall’s air supply and return vents. Blocking these can inhibit vital airflow that your space may need in order to either enter into or leave by.

Our technicians will inspect your unit to prevent any problems and allows you to fix them before they occur.

Having a professional preventative maintenance and cleaning will save you more money in the long run as well as help to extend the life of your unit.

Call CWP Heating and Air today to schedule your Professional Preventative Cleaning and Maintenance.

Which Systems Are We Able To Replace?

We're able to work around low, medium, and high-end equipment from a wide range of brands and models.

We strive to give all of our customers the best replacements possible when it comes to their specific HVAC needs and expectations.

Thankfully, the Trane split-system which ended up being this customer best bet was just the right fit for the needs of their space.

How Do Single Stage and Two-Stage Units Vary?

A fair portion of central air conditioning units tend to operate off of a single stage compressor.

This means that when the outdoor temperature exceeds the temperature setting on your thermostat, the compressor will then switch on and operate at 100% of its capable energy capacity.

Once this desired set temperature is reached though, the unit will then turn off. Single stage compressors switch on and off throughout the day since they're continuously attempting to provide that ideal state of equilibrium.

Variable speed air conditioners on the other hand, such as this new two-stage Trane one, are able to operate comfortably at levels as low as 30% or even 25% capacity.

At these levels, they're able to run for much longer cycles than regular single stage units are often able to.

This feat allows them to run for all or most of the day without constantly switching off and back on again. This simple quality helps to save loads

What Sort Of Split-Systems Can We Install?

We offer low, medium, and high-end equipment from a wide range of brands and models.

We want to give all of our customers options that best suit their needs and are also able to stay within their budget as well.

Thankfully, the specific Lennox split-system which we ended up installing for this customer was just the right fit for their budget as well as their initial intentions.

The Difference Between Single Stage and Two-Stage.

Most central air conditioning units operate with a single stage compressor.

This means that when the outdoor temperature exceeds the temperature setting on your thermostat, the compressor will operate at 100% of its capable capacity.

Once the desired thermostat temperature is reached, the unit will then turn off. Single stage compressors turn on and off continuously throughout the day.

Variable speed air conditioners, such as the two-stage one which we installed, often operate comfortably at levels as low as 30% or even 25% capacity.

They run for longer cycles than a single stage unit tends to, and it's readily possible for them to run for all or most of the day if needed.

Job Details

Location of Job: Hawthorne, CA
When: Apr 19, 2018
Service Category: Commercial
Services Performed: Heat Pump Package Unit Installation
Brief Explanation

What Was Done Here?

We helped a new commercial customer by installing a brand new heat pump package unit for them.

They were likely on the fence for some time between going with a traditional central system versus a heat pump, but the heat pump soon won out.

We did this installation over in Hawthorne, California.

Sure, it was a fair bit West of our usual El Monte area of operations, but we were still more than happy to oblige them with our expert HVAC services.

How Are Heat Pumps Used?

Heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to hot space. Since heat pumps move heat rather than actually generating heat, they don't have the need to use gas.

They can be used year-round for both the cooling and heating seasons.

When it's cold outside, a heat pump extracts heat from the outside and transfers it inside. Even in cold air, heat energy can still be found.

It's kind of similar to having an AC window unit and putting it in the opposite direction when it's cold.

When it's hot outside, heat pumps act like air conditioners in reverses directions by removing heat from the inside and bringing it back outside.

Furthermore, heat pumps are extremely environmentally friendly since they don't require fossil fuels in order to burn in your home or your building.

So whether you choose to go with a standard central system or a new heat pump unit, give us a call to Get A Free Estimate Today.

Location of Job: Van Nuys, CA
When: Mar 21, 2018
Service Category: Commercial
Services Performed: Commercial AC Repair, Copper HVAC Repair
Brief Explanation

Why were we called out to this specific job?

Apparently, some metal thieves attempted to snap the refrigerant lines of one of our existing customer's two outdoor condensing units.

What'd Was Done To Fix The Commercial ACs?

To start with, we pumped all of the remaining refrigerant out of the units.

Once that part was taken care of, we then discovered what needed to be repaired and replaced. This involved getting a new filter drier, sight glass, and service valve.

We then pumped the system back up with some fresh refrigerant to get everything back in order.

After all of the necessary repairs had been performed, the unit was then happily back up and running to its normal working order.

Why Do Thieves Try To Steal Commercial ACs?

Believe it or not, outdoor air conditioning units are sometimes vandalized and stolen. Thieves try to remove these systems and then scrap the included copper for its value.

These types of theft tend to cause far more expensive damages then the copper is even worth stealing, but since the units don't belong to them, they don't care about this reality.

As a result, the more opportunities and items they steal, the more damage overall they leave in their wake as well.

To remove the unit, these mischief-makers tried to cut the refrigerant lines. While they thankfully failed at cutting through the lines completely, they still severely damaged them to such a point which allowed the interior Freon to escape into the atmosphere.

Freon that escapes into the air in this manner not onlydepletes the Ozone Layer, but even has the capacity to do some serious damage if inhaled excessively by cutting off oxygen to one's cells and lungs.

Below in the FAQs, we included a quick list to help you defend your AC unit(s) against such unsavory characters.

Job Details

Location of Job: El Monte, CA
When: Jul 1, 2017
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Certifications, Economizer, Combustion, Air Balancing
Brief Explanation

Our technicians receive certification for training at NCI. They are one of the top training and certification facilities in the nation. We make sure each tech is annually certified before working on your HVAC system.

Below we have described the various certifications we receive and some of the reasons why they are so important. Very few HVAC technicians and firms in California complete these certifications. We believe this sets us apart from others and makes your

Air Balancing Certification

Air balancing involves testing and adjusting the HVAC system so the proper amount of air is distributed to each room. Test results are analyzed and air dampers are adjusted and/or duct repairs are made to provide a balanced airflow.

The ideal amount of air volume entering each room should be the same amount drawn in through the return ducts. When the supply volume is too high, rooms are pressurized. Air is forced out of the house through gaps and cracks wasting cooling or heating energy. When the supply volume is too low, rooms are depressurized. Negative air pressure in a room sucks outdoor air though cracks and gaps making the AC or furnace work harder.

Our technicians use specialized equipment to measure static pressure inside the ductwork and amount of air reaching each room through the supply ducts. We will help uncover and repair hidden system defects that lead to reduced comfort and increased energy consumption.

If you have hot and cold spots in your home, airflow problems, or if some areas of your home receive more conditioned air than others, you may benefit from air balancing.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) & Combustion Analysis

Combustion efficiency is a measurement of how well the natural gas is being burned. A combustion analysis can help identify how well fuel or air is being processed through the heating system.

By adjusting gas valve or air intake to insure proper combustion, residents can save on energy costs. It is important to perform a combustion analysis whenever the equipment has maintenance or any modifications made that may have affected the combustion process.

Carbon monoxide is poisonous primarily because it interferes with oxygen transported to the tissues and the body. Our technicians are properly trained to ensure your gas appliance is performing properly for your safety and comfort.

Economizer Certification

The economizer provides "free" cooling (without running compressors) when the air outside has an appropriate temperature. Energy savings from running an economizer is between 20% to 30%.

Local building code requires economizers to be installed on any rooftop unit that is larger than 54,000 BTU in some climate zones. Although economizers are an excellent way of saving money, most of them are not performing well.

Our technicians are certified to test economizers so that they are operating properly and that they are the correct equipment.

If you need any of these services, or even want to know more about them and how they could benefit your pocket book in cost-saving measures, please give us a call today.

When: Jul 19, 2017
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Replaced six supplies with R-8 flex ductwork
Brief Explanation

We recently replaced the ductwork of this home. The ductwork was damaged and not functioning right.

Ductwork is vital to the health of your HVAC system, it transports exhaust out and fresh air in so that you aren't breathing nasty fumes in all the time. It is part of the overall ventilation system working to make your house comfortable and safe.

About Ductwork

Ductwork is also responsible for moving the cooled or heated air throughout your home. A well designed duct system will keep your home at an even temperature and maximize your system’s efficiency.

However, not only can ducts get damaged, they can also be connected incorrectly. Air can be lost through holes, leaks, or vents.

Replacing Ductwork in El Monte

For a homeowner in El Monte, we replaced, sealed, and patched all her ductwork. To make sure they are sealed properly, we took some specialized equipment and did tests that only about 1% of all HVAC techs in California do.

Our customer can now feel more comfortable in her home and even save a little green on her utility bill. Our technicians will make sure that your ducts are sized correctly and even determine how much air is leaking out of your duct system.

Call us today to have us inspect your ductwork.

Brief Explanation

Old HVAC systems can cost you thousands of dollars in your total annual energy expenses. Malfunctioning HVAC systems are even worse. So what to do?

This was the exact problem of one of our customers. They were spending more money on their total energy costs, without even realizing it. They only noticed they needed a fix when the temperature of their office was still not where they wanted it.

Professional Commercial AC Repair

After spending a few hours trying to get it functioning, we were sent to the rescue.

This business's AC malfunctioned right when it was needed most: the middle of a heat wave!

This was an AC repair in El Monte, CA.

S.E.E.R.s are Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios that are represented by a certain number, 25 being the highest. With the higher number of the ratio the more efficiently your money is being spent.

In order to get their systems fully functioning, we added two new systems to the facility. Two 5 ton, S.E.E.R. 14, 3 phase electrical systems which were added onto their other systems.

These two systems that we installed substantially improved temperature control in their office. Our clients were very pleased with the results we gave them. We were happy, too, since we helped them out!

They will be able to do all of this from much more comfortable offices & warehouse with functioning and controllable temperature.

I would like to commend this company on their professionalism and competence of their entire staff! most companies will give you a song and dance of what you need, and this can only be done if you do this and so on. but from the first call I made to them Jay the gate keeper or the dispatcher in this case, was very calm, professional and explained to me that although they were booked for the day, he would see if he could get me work in. As it was in the 100's all this week, I continued to look around on a Friday at 12:00pm knowing I had little chance of success with labor day coming on Monday. To my surprise Jay called me back, and Phil showed up at the time designated was certified and quickly solved my problem. so if you're looking for great friendly service with a company who will not cheat you and do you right the very first time, I really recommend this company to you.

After having another company state that the $600 circuit board was bad, and then failing to show up (after I took the day off work), Franklin showed up and found that there was a short in the system from condenser to the unit in the attic (Shorts are very difficult to locate, especially when they are intermittant). He corrected it, tested it, and left. I was still having some issues with the system, and called back. They were VERY apologetic, and came back within hours. He found that there were some worn wires on the roof, that only shorted out when the wind hit wires and moved them. Because of this, they re-wired the entire system, at NO FURTHER CHARGE. It was included in the original charge. They were so great, I bought a three year maintenance plan, and the total bill was still less than the original company quoted. If I could give them 10 stars I would. These guys are honest, and they care a great deal about customer satisfaction, and even vacuumed the carpet under the attic access, because a tiny bit of insulation fell out. I just cannot say enough good things about CWP Heating and Air in Whittier. If you have any problems. Call these guys.

Most Installations Are Set To 80°F.

But When Was The Last Time You Set Your thermostat To 80°F?

California's One-Of-A-Kind Though, And So Is Your Home.

A SEER rating is a procedure that requires manufacturers to build their new units around and then meet certain standards.

This test procedure is normally conducted at an 80°F indoor temperature.

While the SEER rating is an effective testing model, around 90% of HVAC business rarely tends to adjust this 80°F indoor temperature down to an ordinary, livable one.

Here at CWP HVAC, we take this into account when we up our units.

We set them to operate at moderate levels that are still energy efficient, will keep your utility bill low, but won't run you out of your own house either.

4. What's A Combustion Analysis?

Answer:

Whenever a combustion analysis is performed, it is used to:

* Improve the fuel efficiency of a furnace.

* Test the safety of the equipment.

* Conform to manufacturer guidelines if anything's out of place.

* And determine the exact amount of undesired emissions being produced, such as carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide is poisonous gas that's odorless, extremely flammable, and if inhaled excessively, will cause flu-like symptoms and potentially death!

5. What All's Involved In Our Installation Process?

Answer:

After the initial installation of your new unit is complete, we then go the whole 9 yards to make sure you're new system us up and running accordingly.

We'll take a few measurements of the airflow and adjust the system accordingly so that it performs the way it's intended to.

After this, we'll then charge the system with refrigerant and ensure that everything else is performing perfectly.

(Very few HVAC businesses do these additional steps. Roughly 1 out of every 100 businesses or so.)
